Can be a hit or miss place...

I have been in town a few times and have gone here, usually after going somewhere else first and it can really be a hit or miss club, but the nights when it's a hit, it's awesome. I would give it a great place but there are too many straights that go there.

terrible

The only reason I can imagine that this place hasn't gone out of business is the fact that it's the only gay dance club in calgary and so people still go to it to pick-up or because they're too scared they might get gay bashed at a straight club in calgary. Twisted element has the worst customer service of any establishment I've ever visited in my life. The staff are very rude. Prices are average. Music is old. It's crawling with older straight couples looking for a gay threesome. The club itself is kind of small which wouldn't be a problem if it didn't look so dingy. Don't waste your time or money going here. Go to a straight club instead. trust me calgarians aren't all rednecks and the ones in the clubs seem to love u even more if they know you're gay!

Don't even bother.

Unfortunately, it is the only gay dance club in Calgary. Becasue of that, their customer service has gone down the tube. 1. They discriminate against straight acting women (they randomly choose who should pay cover and most of the time, they are gay women). Note you, this is not a "Private Club like Boyztown" 2. There are way too many "Twinks" who thinks they own the place. 3. Bar tenders are not friendly. 4. Music is atrocious! DJ sucks. 5. They make fake line ups to make it look like the place is popular if you are driving by. 6. Downstairs is dingy. Overall, don't even waist your time when you come to Calgary. Spend time with your friends at their house. Trust me.

Painful

This club is definitely run by people who have no idea what a cool nightclub is supposed to be like. If it was well run, it could possibly be cool but the DJ is the worst I have ever heard and the general atmosphere is stuck 15 years ago (but wasn't cool even at that time.) Guys are generally not all that hot. I think most gay people in Calgary know not to waste their time here and party in other cities.

It's a dance club with rainbow flags on the walls.

Nothing particularly great here. The clientele is a mix of androgynous 20-somethings and their girlfriends. I was told on my first visit that I acted too straight and had to pay cover. There is far too much silly drama surrounding this bar, but the owners largely bring it upon themselves. Go and dance, but don't expect to experience anything resembling a 'community' here.
