AMAZING food. Fun party spot
I don't think I've had better food at a gay bar ever before. I tried some pasta and WOW. I came back later at night and the dance floor was full, but the rest of the bar was not. The DJ was great but the music was too trancy for me and I felt like a lot of the people around me were on drugs. It wasn't really my scene but everybody else seemed to be enjoying it. Luckily I saw a poster in the washroom for another bar which was more my style. It's cool to see that the bars in Calgary support each other lik ethat
Great New Club
Contrary to the reviews below, this club is a CLEAN and SAFE place to go... more so than some of the others in town (you'll notice that all but one of the bad reviews below, if you look at their other reviews, says Sapien sucks, and that Fab Bar is great... and oddly enough, two of those reviewers only reviewed Fab Bar and Sapien... and they joined on the same date! Hmmmm!) Anyways... I highly recommend their chicken burger, it's cooked fresh to order, delicious! I've been here for dinner, dancing, as well as parties, and I really must say it is a refreshing alternative to some of the other gay bars in town. The proximity to Twisted Element is EXCELLENT for jumping between the two, and Sapien has some great drink specials, and as far as I know, they are no longer charging cover. 5 stars! (and having some female staff is nice for the ladies!)
what a joke!
ive gone here a couple times since it opened. not going back! the dancefloor is to small and the music sucks. the staff are rude. the new bar faze is long gone, its hit or miss with this place, the place is always dead whenever i go, and the drink prices are crazy! when they first opened, the food was good, but now every time i eat there i get sick. there used to be people there all the time but now its just gone down hill. the cover charge was a pain in the ass but i paid it anyways, but now with now more cover, and minimal drink specials, i still dont have a reason to go anymore. try getting some nice staff members and fill the place up without cutting the space, and i might come back.... but not for the food!
Hit and Miss
Went on a sat night and paid 3 dollars cover. Awesome music, dance floor way to freaking small. It's called club Sapien for cripes sake! Make the majority of the freaking bar a dance floor. Not seating for wanna be sceners. Drinks are expensive, large bathrooms.
Mediocre at best,
Club Sapien is over hyped and expensive. Ok to dance at but their menu just doesn't measure up. We went on a wing nite as well and it's probably the worst experience I have had in a long time. For Calgary's gay scene there are better choices for a great time and even better menu.
